What is For Heaven’s Bake Sudbury?

For Heaven’s Bake Sudbury is a local bakeshop specializing in custom cakes and cupcakes… The kind of things you’ve seen on Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes, only right here in your own backyard! We’ve been around for a little over a year now and are growing really quickly. We’re ramping up for some big changes so be sure be sure to follow us on social for some fun announcements in the new year!

What is your earliest memory of baking?

From the time I could walk, my two lovely grandmother’s would graciously let me ‘help’ them bake. I’m sure I was more of a pain in their rears than a helping hand but I so looked forward to these special times with both of them. I remember looking on in awe is my Gramma would swiftly and effortlessly peel apples, finishing with one single curled string of peel. Then I’d eat the peel like a true Fruit by the Foot! I also remember sneaking so many of my Memere’s famous pets des soeurs RAW that we’d have virtually none left to cook (I still think they’re best raw… Shhhhh)!

What is your favourite cake you have made?

I recently developed a new no-bake raspberry-key lime cheesecake recipe that quickly became my all time favourite dessert! I’ve yet to offer it to anyone who didn’t love it. In terms of decorating, my favourite custom order would have to be the tropical themed birthday cake I made for my sister’s boyfriend. Not only did I end up loving how the design turned out, but the strawberry daiquiri and pina colada flavours were to die for. Plus, my sister helped me out with the decorating so we had a great time in the process 🙂

Favourite holiday recipe?

Since the age of 18 I’ve been my family’s designated holiday chef. This means that I regularly cook AT LEAST two traditional meals every Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Needless to say, I’ve got all my holiday recipes down to a science. My standalone favourite would have to be my brussel sprouts with bacon. Both my mom and Memere claimed to hate brussel sprouts until trying this crispy, flavourful delight!

Ingredients:

  • 4 bags Brussel sprouts, shredded into small pieces
  • 1 lb Bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup Bacon grease
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • Sea salt & coarse pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Cook bacon pieces in a pan until just crispy
  2. Separate cooked bacon and grease, set aside
  3. Steam brussel sprouts until just tender
  4. Heat butter and bacon grease in large fry pan
  5. Fry brussel sprouts until slightly crispy, stirring frequently (about 6 minutes)
  6. Add bacon and cook for an additional 2 minutes
  7. Add salt & pepper to taste
  8. Serve warm

Favourite thing about celebrating the holidays in Sudbury?

My favourite thing about the holidays in Sudbury is spending time with friends and family skating on the Ramsey Lake Skate Path!
