4 Warm and Healthy Winter Drinks

Although it is unseasonably warm this weekend, it’s always a good idea to boost your immune system in the winter months. Here are four drink recipes to keep you warm and healthy this winter!

Bullet proof coffee

How this craze hasn’t made it into more places in Sudbury astounds me, but nevertheless here’s my favourite. You can make your own in three simple steps: Brew Coffee. Add 1tbsp ghee butter and 1 tbsp coconut oil or MCT oil. Blend along with a low glycemic (healthy) sweetener such as monk fruit or stevia.

This drink has taken the world by storm. It’s replacing the less ideal coffee habit most folks have. Optional MCT oil instead of coconut oil is like rocket fuel for the body. The combo, allows for sustained energy from the healthy fats and allows the coffee to enter the body and not cause adrenal fatigue and 3 o’clock catch associated with caffeine in the AM.

Low glycemic sweetener prevents the insulin spike first thing in the morning ensuring you don’t crash later and keeping your hormones in check with out riding the energy roller coaster all day. The mix also allows you to simulate fasting in the body while filling your belly. The body get high octane fuel, while thinking it hasn’t eaten allowing it to work on repair and break down of excess fat. My number one go to in the mornings every single day.

Tip – using a French press allows the full saturation of oils that can be caught up in filters of coffee makers.
