Bitten by the Injury Bug: Wolves Weekend Preview

Bitten by the Injury Bug: Wolves Weekend Preview

It has been an injury plagued season to date for the Sudbury Wolves, but this weekend they should get an offensive boost, with the return of Macauley Carson. Carson went down hard into the end boards during his first game of the regular season, which resulted in a broken wrist. He has had to sit in the stands and watch his club for 18 games, and he’s had just about enough of that. Carson is also slated to play in Monday’s OHL vs Russia game taking place at the Sudbury Arena. Although he would have liked to have a few more games under his belt before heading into that game, he welcomes the opportunity to play on a nationally televised stage. Having spoken to him recently about his expected return date and the desire to get back on the ice, Carson brings to the team an edge that hasn’t been easy to replace in his absence. Macauley is one of the hardest working hockey players you will meet. His dedication to the game and attention to detail, paired with his ability to see the ice well and his natural goal scoring ability, should give the Sudbury Wolves a well needed boost up front. With 2018 NHL Draft Prospect David Levin, out for an extended period of time with a knee injury, the return of Carson will come at the right time. The Sudbury Wolves are a team that is struggling for consistency, and they need assistance up front, yesterday.

The Wolves head into the weekend, on a losing note, but look to turn their record around, having posted a 4-5-1-0 record in their last ten games. If this Friday’s game versus the Barrie Colts, is anything like the OT thriller, last Friday night, you are definitely going to want to head down to the Old Elgin Street Barn to catch the game. The Wolves organization will be honouring our Military and Veterans with a pregame ceremony before puck drop. Barrie will most likely be without Zachary Magwood who is questionable for Friday night. Keep an eye on Lucas Chiodo, and rookie forward Ryan Suzuki. If you are tuning into the game on Eastlink Friday, you can catch me interviewing Chiodo in the first intermission.

Following Friday night’s game the Wolves will head out on the road for a two game road trip, with stops in Owen Sound on Saturday night and Guelph on Sunday. Don’t forget that you can catch all the Wolves action on Eastlink ch 610 in HD, or listen on the radio at 96.7 FM CKLU. We will have a full weekend roundup on Monday morning right here, so check back in.
