Cambrian PR students plan an eventful month for Sudbury.

Cambrian PR students plan an eventful month for Sudbury.

Cambrian’s Public Relations (PR) Program brings fun in all shapes and sizes this March. Every year the second-year PR students at Cambrian College are given a two-semester long assignment to create, plan, and execute an event. The event must occur in the month of March giving the students seven months to bring an event to life. Students are driven to make their events huge successes by both a passing grade and raising funds to donate to a charity of the group’s choice.

This year the second-year PR students have put together seven events for you to attend this month. Each event will benefit their chosen charity as well as the Cambrian Foundation’s PR bursaries. These events range from sporting events, to trivia, to prom and more! Our Crater has all the must-know details about all seven events so you can attend each one and support local students and local charities!

MARCH 3:  Laughing in Action – Ferrigan’s Pub – 20 Birch St. Garson, ON

7:30 – 10:00 p.m.

PR students Shannon Macdonald, Leah Tessier, Marissa Nazaruk, and Mathieu Gagnon are hosting a Trivia Night! The group has teamed up with Sudbury Trivia Night to put on this event. Teams of up to eight people can compete to see who knows the most about life in the 2000’s! (Hello, millennials!) There will be three rounds of 15 questions and prizes will be awarded throughout the night!

The charity Laughing in Action supports is Action Sudbury. The group is very passionate about the message they spread. Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of death on Ontario roads. Over the past decade, more than 2,000 lives have been lost due to impaired driving, and more than 50,000 people have been injured in a collision caused by impaired driving. Action Sudbury is a local organization that works to eliminate death and injury as a result of impaired driving. Knowing every little bit helps, and on top of donating money at the end of this, they want to raise awareness for the organization.

In conjunction with their cause, Laughing in Action will also be partnered up with Driver Seat to give those who drive to the event and want to drink a safe way home for themselves and their vehicle!

Tickets are being sold in advance and at the door for $10. If you would like to buy tickets for Laughing in Action please contact Shannon Macdonald at shanmacdonald7@gmail.com or 705-988-1761. More information is also available at https://www.facebook.com/events/368916763487668/.

All proceeds from this event will support Sudbury Youth Rocks, a charity which helps children grow through the art of music. The charity has been supporting local youth through music for the past ten years and is the perfect choice for giving back to the local community.

Brittany is a Public Relations student at Cambrian College. If you see her without a coffee it is likely an evil clone, not to be trusted. In Brittany’s spare time she is a foster mom to rescue dogs and fur mom to two dogs of her own. If she’s not running a mile-a-minute she’s probably planning a trip, climbing a mountain, submersed in social media, or enjoying a book — all while covered in dog hair and fueled by coffee.
