Sudbury Music Spotlight: DJ Felix Felicis

Greg McGarry, also known within the Sudbury community as DJ Felix Felicis, is going to be bringing us the 90s throwback we’ve all been waiting for at Y2Crater! Check out our interview with DJ Felix Felicis below. When did you realize that you wanted to become a DJ? When I was in high school I would go to parties and grab all my friends’ IPods and be in control of whatever stereo system there was. I always liked the idea of sound-tracking life’s events, especially parties. After a year of doing that, I did my research and bought my......

THE MCEWAN SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE OPENS ITS DOORS FOR NUIT BLANCHE

Over the past few years Sudbury has seen a revitalization in the downtown core. New businesses have set up shop, older businesses have seen more excitement and popularity. A key role in this new age of Downtown Sudbury is the newly completed McEwen School of Architecture – the big glass housing structure attached to the old marketplace has become a symbol of change and prosperity in Sudbury. Earlier in June of 2016, Rob and Cheryl McEwen invested $10 Million in Laurentian University’s School of Architecture. At that point, the structure was starting its final stages of construction. It’s exciting......

AN OPEN LETTER FROM “THE ARMPIT OF ONTARIO”

This is an open letter in response to an article posted on Noisey on October 28th, 2016 interviewing Sudbury group Casper Skulls. Read full original article here. Dear Southern Ontarian, Hey there! Its us, the residents of Sudbury, the happiest city in Canada! We heard it’s common belief that our city doesn’t have much of a music scene. We’re really sorry you feel that way. We’ll be the first to admit we don’t necessarily have all the huge venues and boundless options for musical entertainment the big city might have, but what we do have is the industrious, fearless,......

TOP MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM TWO HORROR LOVING SISTERS

My sister, Emmalee and I did not get along growing up. With a nearly six year age difference we fought like cats and dogs over everything you could imagine. Who got to use the family computer first, who’s turn it was with the remote, who owned what Barbie, who was going to get to ride shot gun (okay we still argue over that one). Our mother would tell us “if you can’t get along, don’t talk to each other at all!”, a sentiment we took very seriously for many sparsely worded years.  But somewhere among the acne and turbulence......

Tunes From Beyond The Grave

This may be an unpopular opinion, but if I have to listen to one more freaking Halloween playlist with Thriller or the Monster Mash on it I’m going to become a campfire ghost story. So instead of making a totally tacky Halloween playlist for you with all the same exact songs you hear every year that make you want to drill out your eardrums, I decided to think outside of the coffin and give you a brief reprieve. This month you’ve got an hour of tracks from artists who have passed over to the great beyond, but their music......
