Welcome to another edition of Crater Conversations, a weekly show live on CKLU now on at a brand spanking new time Tuesday’s at 5PM! So, what exactly is the show all about? Join your host Crater co-founder Jess each week as we sit down with a local guest, we’ll talk about their projects, their passions, and the things they love about our little rock town! We’ll be sitting down with performers, entrepreneurs, community leaders – really anyone with a story. Alessandro Costantini is a central character in te evolution of Sudbury’s theatre community. He founded YES Theatre in 2010 in order to put on a production of HAIR, the show was such a success they decided to try it again in 2011 and the rest is history. The cast just wrapped up a sold out and extended 8th season with their production of Billy Elliot, a show that tells the story of a young boy struggling to connect with his artistic passions in a mining town. Sound familiar? Alessandro starred last fall in the premier production of Canadian musical Prom Queen. The show tells the story of Marc Hall, a high school student who takes his school to court in order to bring his boyfriend to prom. His work on the production won him a nomination for a Montreal English Theatre Award for Outstanding Lead Performance.He sat with Alessandro and talked being an artist in Northern Ontario, how YES Theatre all got started and the power of collaboration.  Listen in here and check out our playlist on Spotify for this episode here.
