Are you enthralled by the world of theatre? Are you dying to get a peak behind the curtain to see what goes into putting a piece together? Playsmelter is the ticket for you! Organized by Pat the Dog, Playsmelter is a week long festival (April 30th – May 5th) presenting new works of Canadian theatre. Throughout the course of the week audiences will get a chance to see pieces in various stages of production, from initial script readings, workshops and to fully produced shows. Entering its 6th season Playsmelter will be taking over the Sudbury Theatre Centre April 30th to May 5th with shows in the STC rehearsal space, Vale Cabaret lounge and main stage. This is a unique chance to see the entire process of preparing a brand new piece of theatre and also allows the creators an opportunity to get valuable audience feedback as the project continues to develop. Lisa O’Connell is the Artistic Director behind Pat the Dog who work year round to provide opportunities for Canadian playwrights. We got in touch to get all the details on how you can make the most of your Playsmelter experience and the work that Pat the Dog is doing to make sure Northern stories are told on stage.
