Tampon Tuesday is a unique way for women in the community to come together for a night of socializing, networking and support for women in crisis. Everyone is encouraged to bring unopened feminine hygiene products or incontinence products, as the price of admission, and these will be donated directly to the Food Bank and the Women’s Centre here in Sudbury. This event in particular is inviting union members to come, as we would like to bring labour and the community together! Please RSVP to: labour@unitedwaysudbury.com or call 705-560-3330 ext.223. We hope to continue these events in the future, to be able to donate to many different shelters and community organizations in the Sudbury area. Laurentian University, 935 Ramsey Lake Road

Diverse research groups have been shown to produce higher-impact research, and research with sample groups that reflect the diversity of the population is more robust. Despite this knowledge, the field of scientific research can sometimes feel like an inhospitable place to many people who don't see themselves reflected in the scientific workforce. Are we where we want to be in attracting and supporting a diverse scientific workforce? How can we ensure that underrepresented voices are heard? And what's the impact on individuals and the field of scientific research itself when we fail?
