Sudbury Theatre Centre Presents a NEW cabaret series: LADIES OF THE ROCK! This 3-part series will showcase some of Sudbury's giant population of amazing female musicians and artists: come let us give you some insight as to what these rockin' gals are up to! Hosted by the incredibly talented rockin' lady herself, Kelly Perras, these three evenings are sure to get your toes tapping and your minds thinking about what Sudbury has to offer. Our first lady of the rock is the sweet Samantha Simone! Fresh off of a stellar debut performance in Sudbury Burlesque's Monster's Ball 3, Samantha is one multi-faceted artist you don't want to miss the chance to see. Second year running, Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-op salutes Sudbury's feminists at a special screening of a woman-directed film. THE WORLD BEFORE HER (2012) by NISHA PAHUJA which won numerous festival awards including Best Canadian Feature at HOT DOCS, Best Doc at TRIBECA, also at SAN DIEGO ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL, WARSAW, and in ZURICH. This moving documentary explores the choices of two young Indian women seeking to broaden the bleak horizons for women- one through beauty contests, the other thru militant Hinduism. TICKETS are $12 in advance/ or $15 cash at door. "With unprecedented access, great compassion, and a keen eye for the universal, this year's winner takes a hard and clear-eyed look at the trials of growing up female in today's fast-changing world. Following young women who have taken diametrically opposed decisions on how to tackle the influence of global forces in their communities, the filmmaker takes us on a journey to examine how the pressures of faith, fashion, and family are bringing up a generation of women who are desperately searching for meaning amidst a reality of few real choices."

Boston Pizza has partnered with Canadian Blood Services to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available to hospital patients in need. As part of their dedication to the community, Boston Pizza has invited Canadian Blood Services to participate in their Celebrity Server Night on Wednesday, March 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Blood typing will be available to anyone who is 17 years or older. Boston Pizza customers are encouraged to come out and find out what their blood type is and to book an appointment to donate blood at the Sudbury Blood Donor Clinic. The Sudbury area needs 200 new blood donors every month to keep up with hospital demand. For more info about blood donation, visit blood.ca.
