Hang With Us Podcast: Pop culture, politics and everyday 20-something struggles
One of my favourite ways to start my day is by listening to podcasts. There are so many amazing ones out there from business tips to murder mysteries – there is seriously a podcast for everything and I’m hooked! Recently, two Sudburians decided to start a podcast of their own – Hang With Us has quickly become part of my Monday morning routine. I get to work , grab a coffee and listen to their latest episode – my favourite part is definitely when they share their bachelorette living stories. We spoke with Amanda Roy and Hailey Short to find out more about Hang With Us!
So what is Hang With Us – what inspired you to start a podcast?
Hang With Us is a weekly podcast hosted by two besties Amanda Roy and Hailey Short. We drink wine and chat politics, pop culture and everyday 20-something struggles. We’re both podcast obsessed. We’re always messaging each other to discuss the latest episodes of our favourites (Call Your Girlfriend being one of them!) Although, we love listening, it was difficult to find any with relevant, Canadian content. So, after a few glasses of wine, we decided ‘we can totally do this!’
You girls talk about politics, pop culture and everyday 20-something struggles – there is A LOT to discuss in each category (especially in that last one). How do you decide what topics to cover each week?
It’s always hard to narrow down exactly what we’re going to chat about, but that’s actually the best part. Since we started HWU, (11 episodes ago!) we’ve been having a blast trying to find new content every week. We always keep our topics a secret until we actually discuss them while recording. We try to start the episode off with some ‘hard-hitting’ topics (like how crazy the American election is), followed by our lighter topics (things we’re obsessed with, #BacheloretteLiving stories, etc.)

That’s a tough question… We’d say either a mouse murder (RIP) or Virginity auctions (yes, apparently that’s a thing)
Why did you choose to start a podcast over a blog or a YouTube channel? What attracted you to podcasting?
Like we mentioned, we are huge fans of podcasts. They’re just so easy to listen to, and surprisingly always pretty informative. We love having an outlet to talk about issues we find interesting, and care about. I don’t think we’d be able to convey our opinions through another outlet, so podcasting just made sense!
