Motivating You with Local Author Connor LaRocque

Connor LaRocque calls himself just a regular guy, but he has some revolutionary ideas. Within minutes of speaking to him, it is apparent that he has done his research and is ready to let you in on the keys to success and accessing your potential. Connor admits to living in the shadow of his older brother for most of his life, and his brother faced every obstacle without hesitation, which placed a lot of fear in Connor’s mindset. “I was always looking at the wrong side of things, the ‘what ifs’, and I used my family as a crutch; I let fear direct me.” After enrolling in Muay Thai kickboxing, he began to find his own confidence and came into his own. He went from (by his own admission) “overweight, lazy, and fearful” to confident, and open to the teachings of personal development and motivation.

His beginnings on his current path started with his love for writing. In fact, his first book Life is Motivation began with a simple brainstorming exercise of writing all of his ideas down on paper; as Connor puts it, “There were connections forming right in front of me”. Life is Motivation was Connor’s first published book, which he describes as “The first outlet I’ve had that is completely my own”. It focuses on his thoughts on various topics and how they relate to success and achieving your goals.

Drawing from his sporting experience as a former hockey player and Muay Thai kickboxer, “I took my story, put it on paper and it led me to the idea, which is really my core theme, what I like to call building a self-sustaining platform for the rest of your life.” In essence, the book is about opening your mind to endless possibilities and new concepts, in the hopes of “kick-starting the process of new thinking.”

Running of the strength of his work on that, he began sharing his thoughts in the form of public speaking, “I’ve always been inspired by those who can go out on to a stage with a crowd of thousands and completely ignite them, and I studied guys like Tony Robbins who had this ability.” He describes the feeling of embracing the connection with an audience as something that motivates him to spread his message. “Helping people pick themselves up and turn their life around really motivates me.”

Connor will be making a return to the author’s desk with his new book, which takes a more applied and practical approach to his teachings. “The premise of it really is that luck is an illusion, it states that everything in life needs an efficient strategy and focused goal in mind. The success stories we hear are all the same. You begin with a problem, and work your strategy around that problem and keep that goal in mind at all times, despite how many times you experience obstacles.”

A student in the ways of personal development, Connor preaches the gospel of “unlocking your mind, to the endless possibilities”. And, once you set yourself into this manner of thinking, he promises that great things will begin to happen, “because you are in control of your own future!”
