Tell us more about Hot Mess

Hot Mess is a monthly comedy show where local comics are given one month to write a set of jokes around a theme. Any form of comedy is allowed, the weirder the better. Every month, Hot Mess will feature their “Fresh Mess” comic; someone trying comedy for the first time. The goal of Hot Mess is to inspire creativity and to open up the local comedy scene.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea formed when co-founder Shawn Kosmerly attended college in Etobicoke. A friend of his, Daniel Pearce, started a similar style of show, called Mixed Nuts, which was held bi-monthly inside the school’s basement. Shawn had helped from it’s conception, and decided to bring the idea to Sudbury. With the help of Timmy Kraft, an established local comedian, and Felix HT, a local event organizer / loudmouth, Hot Mess is excited to bring it’s first show to Fromagerie on Elgin.

What kind of performers will we see?

The focus of the comedy show is to discover a variety of comedians. Any style is welcome. Performance art, musical, absurdist, traditional; all forms are welcomed. If it’s funny then it’s welcome.

How do I sign up to perform in a future show?

Hot Mess is always looking for new comedians. Should someone want to perform in future shows, they should contact the Hot Mess Facebook page or e-mail skosmerly@gmail.com.
