We’ve decided to share with you our personal favourites!

We’ve rounded up five local Instagram accounts that we feel have capture the beauty and the magic of our very own Sudbury.

Adventure, nature, books, and coffee-what more could you want in an account?! Jessica is a local who loves the outdoors and uses photography as a form of self-care in connecting with nature, as well as to decompress.

“I’ve always been arts-oriented, but I connect with photography the most. For me, a walk in the woods with my camera helps me to get in touch with myself and my thoughts”.

Her favourite place to go to take her photos is Lake Laurentian Conservation area.

As a Sudbury raised outdoor enthusiast who loves capturing moments and setting moods within his pictures, Wade is an extremely talented photographer who has been shooting for about a year and believes that he will never stop trying to improve and progress as a photographer.

“I’m inspired by the miles and miles of wilderness which surrounds Sudbury, and all the untouched places it has to offer. Simple living has become a lifestyle for me and I truly believe that less is more, even with photography”.

Some of his favourite Sudbury spots that inspire him include Onaping Falls, Simon Lake, Laurentian Hiking Trails & Lake Panache.

@weliveuphere

We Live Up Here is a celebration of everything that’s so weird and wonderful about Sudbury! @weliveuphere shares some of the best photos from the #weliveuphere hashtag, particularly the ones that show the Sudbury area under a different light: the rough and tough, the urban life and the cool cultural events happening around town.

We Live Up Here is also responsible for the 20+ new murals that have been popping up around downtown over the past few years (see @upherefestival) and also curate @sudburytimemachine where beautiful archive photography from the area is highlighted to spark conversations and build an appreciation for our rich heritage (and to secretly make sure that stop making parking lots out of old buildings).

@cassidyjeanmc

Cassidy is photographer and videographer who is constantly inspired by our interconnection with nature. Growing up in Northern Ontario, she was always outside and grew a love for the outdoors as well as the feeling of being connected with something greater than one’s self.

“With my photography, I hope to show and inspire others to not only to appreciate but also respect the lakes and the land we live with”.

Her favourite spot to shoot? On vermillion river, behind her parents place in Whitefish!

A third-year Outdoor Adventure Leadership & Concurrent Education student at Laurentian University, Leanne fills her account with the simple beauty of Sudbury.

“I love to share snippets of some adventures I go on and show others how simple it is to get outside”!

To Leanne, the small town northern Ontario feel of Sudbury is a nature lover’s dream, and feels that no matter what season it is, there are always ways to get outside, which is constantly reflected in her photography.

You can most likely find her on any local trail- her favourites include the Lake Laurentian Conservation area, Bennett Lake, and the junction creek trail system!
