Favourite Holiday Trend: All Plaid Everything

For some reason, plaid is one of my favourite patterns to wear…it must be the northerner in me! I like finding unique ways to incorporate patterns and textiles into my looks, and try to stray away from the classic plaid button-up whenever I can, although I am definitely guilty of owning one too many plaid shirts! In this look, I decided to dress up a plaid skater skirt for a holiday look. I found this one at Garage, but as always, H&M is the best affordable place I know of to shop for holiday pieces and find the latest trends.

Celestial Accessories

I usually pair a vintage broach or large necklace with my outfits, but this time I decided to instead try something different! Mercury is in retrograde until December 23rd, and as an astrology nerd myself, I accessorized with a layered lunar-inspired necklace and rings. I chose to stick with gold jewelry for this look, but mixing and matching metals and gemstones is an easy way to up any look.

Knee High Socks

Instead of tights, try knee-high or even over-the-knee socks with a skirt or dress. It adds an unexpected and trendy element to an outfit, especially when paired with heels or boots. Over-the-knee (and knee-high) socks can be found at most fast-fashion stores like Forever 21 and H&M, but Ardene’s also always has a large (and extremely affordable) selection!

To match this skirt, I chose black knee-highs and stuck with my favourite Steve Madden sock boots (featured last week too!) .

What are your favourite holiday pieces and outfits?

Until next time, friends!
