Up North: CBC Sounds of the Season – Join us for a special broadcast of our afternoon show Up North, live from the Sudbury Food Bank on Friday, Dec. 9. Meet host Jason Turnbull and the Up North team from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hear live music from HUGH JAZZ, enjoy coffee and snacks, win CBC prizes, and hear holiday stories from northerners across the region. LOL Comedy Festival Presents: Brent Butt Live in Sudbury – You’ve seen him on the hit CTV show Corner Gas… now see him in the Nickel City! Brent Butt is bringing his gut-busting standup comedy routine to the Grand Theatre in Sudbury on December 10th! Brent started practicing stand-up comedy at the age of 20. Within months, he was headlining top clubs and within a couple of years was touring internationally and appearing at major festivals. Corner Gas became an instant hit with unprecedented ratings and numerous accolades including an International Emmy Award nomination, and was named “Funniest Show on TV” by TV Guide Readers. Whiskey River Blues Band – Whiskey River Band’s first appearance in Sudbury since the summer. Catch up with Sudbury’s longest running Blues Band, celebrating 30 years in 2016. Dance to a firey night of Rhythm and Blues, old Chicago Blues, some 60’s Soul and whatever else catches the attention of these veteran musicians. it’s always a blast and just goes to show that the root of all music is the Blues… so it doesn’t matter if you are 19 or 90… you are going to have a fun time with the Whiskey River Blues Band.
