Sudbury Trivia Night at The Fromo – 3 rounds of 15 questions, and one bonus question per round. Pages are marked a-la grade 5 math class by passing them to a friend. 11, teams of 2-8. LIFT Green Screen Workshop at #nomfa2017 – This special topics workshop is designed for those interested in practical experience lighting and shooting for green screen, as well as those who wish to explore compositing features in Adobe After Effects. Day one will focus on lighting set-up and shooting test footage, while the second day of the workshop will focus on post-production techniques using After Effects. By the end of the workshops, participants will have comprehensive knowledge of the entire green screen process. Heather Topp: Livid Here / Livide ici – The Art Gallery of Sudbury is pleased to present the first retrospective exhibition of the work of Sudbury artist Heather Topp, opening Thursday, May 25, 2017. Heather Topp has been making art for more than 50 years. She has presented more than 15 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 65 group exhibitions since locating to Sudbury in 1980-81. This exhibition includes several series of works, including large scale papier-mâché figures, clay sculptures, paintings, and drawings. Heather Topp’s processes of art-making often call upon non-traditional media that in turn expand the traditional definitions of the fine arts. Each series of art produced by Heather Topp seeks to create a dialogue with the viewer about the challenges in the social and political landscape of the community we live in. “My art is a conversation,” says Heather Topp, “always changing and contradicting, evolving tensions.” 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. @ Art Gallery of Sudbury – 251 John Street

Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp – Canada’s Music Incubator in partnership with the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA), Music and Film in Motion (MFM), and the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) are excited to present the Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp in Sudbury, ON (May 27-28). The bootcamp will be FREE to those with NOMFA passes and run Saturday (9am-6pm) and Sunday (9am-3pm) with the objective of providing customized, hands-on and high-level mentorship to a maximum of 15 pre-selected active artist entrepreneurs. Bootcamp activities and topics will include: One-On-One Mentorship, Running Your Business, Pitching, Negotiating, Networking, Touring, Marketing, Funding, Team Building, Publicity, Contracts and more. To be considered, artists must complete an online application for the Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp before Monday May 15 (Noon EST). Incomplete applications will not be considered. Sudbury’s Largest Yard and Sidewalk Sale 2017 – Sudbury’s Largest Yard and Sidewalk Sale is an annual community yard sale hosted by the Downtown Sudbury BIA. Northern Ontario Outdoor Expo – Northern Ontario is home to many amazing, clubs, businesses and local organizations that are focused on the outdoors and generally increasing the community’s outdoor activity in the north. In Sudbury there are many different festivals, and promotional opportunities, but many of which are only targeted for a small audience. This year we are proud to announce the First Annual Northern Ontario Outdoor Expo on May 27th 2017. The Northern Ontario Outdoor Expo will be open to any Club, Organization or Businesses that focuses on outdoor activities and want to help to develop the outdoor community in Sudbury and surrounding areas.
