Introduction to web fundamentals

April 5, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm
The Workplace, 1191 Lansing Avenue
Sudbury, Ontario Canada
+ Google Map
$250

Ever wonder how websites are made? What makes the internet look the way it does? Are you considering programming, coding or web development as a career? Web fundamentals are your introduction to coding, getting you from zero experience to being able to code basic websites. This course covers the fundamentals needed to understand more advanced programming languages for the web such as PHP and Javascript. This course will cover HTML5, CSS3, and introduce you to popular frameworks such as Bootstrap. The curriculum is project-based, so expect weekly homework to practice your lessons with practical applications. Course instructor is Jeff Caldwell from Shopify, a programmer with over 15 years of experience. Jeff has graciously agreed to come out of his cave to teach eager minds the mysteries of coding the internet. We designed this course as an alternative to online based education such as codeacademy.com and freecodecamp.org. It's for folks who prefer a classroom setting, an instructor you can talk to 1-on-1, and who want to meet others with similar interests. The course aims to keep its participants interested, motivated, entertained and accountable. Come nerd out with us and enjoy complimentary coffee, pop, and light snacks from 7-9 on Thursdays from April 5 to 26th at The Workplace coworking space, off Lansing, just behind Food Basics. Course fees: 250$ Course requirements: Laptop with internet access (wifi available in class) Course pre-requisites: none - just a thirst for nerdy knowledge
