April 28-29th, Join Starlotte Satine Vintage as she takes over one of Sudbury's most beautiful hidden gems, The Cedar Nest Decor Cafe Inc.for a two day vintage clothing pop up sale just in time for the spring weather and Mother's Day! Come discover new vintage treasures and stay for some of The Cedar Nest's homemade treats and tea! Bring your friends or even have a Mother, Daughter shopping day all while taking a step back in time! This is the perfect opportunity to come play dress up with some of your favourite people! Intro to Paverpol Sculptures
Join us in recreating a Paverpol Sculpture.I will guide you, step-by-step, in a non-intimidating, laid-back atmosphere. Whether or not you think of yourself as a "creative" person, if you would like to be more creative, my intro to paverpol sculptures is designed just for you! No previous art experience is necessary! The Intro workshop is the perfect place to start into the world of Paverpol. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned artist everyone is welcome. In this class you will learn the basics, starting by building a form from a wire frame with aluminum foil. Fun is what you will have at Little Art Garage whether its time to catch up with friends or solo the choice is yours. In this full day workshop laughs and good conversation is what you can expect.I will help you get started through activities designed to increase your creative thinking and bring more joy to your life. I can’t think of a better way to spend my day. We will be creating a sitting piece and one colour you can chose from male, female angels or fairies. The cost is $99 per person and includes instruction as well as all the materials necessary for you to leave with a completed sculpture. Intro to Aerial Workshop
Aerial yoga or also known as anti-gravity yoga is a yoga-based practice using suspended yoga silks from the ceiling. It is a yoga practice that carries both modern elements as well as ancient yoga techniques. This introduction to aerial yoga will give you the basics on safety, movement, benefits and rules while using the yoga silks. Participants engage in poses while utilizing the silks that allow them to suspend in mid-air. Based on the theory of counter-gravity, suspending the body via the silk is extremely beneficial. Gravity stresses the body by weighing the body down, causing compression of the spine and increased muscle tension. Counter-gravity works to reverse the negative effects of gravity by decompressing the spine, releasing muscle tension, and enhancing blood circulation. The silk is also intended to assist in proper body alignment and deepen awareness. Participants must be in good physical condition in order to safely engage in this exercise with no problems. If you have ever had surgery on your hips, or if you have had any other surgery within the last year, avoid aerial yoga and consult with a doctor. Aerial yoga is not recommended for pregnant women, those with glaucoma, people who suffer from either high or very low blood pressure, those with osteoporosis, or those who have recently suffered from a stroke. On Sunday April 29th, 2018,The Northern Game Expo returns to where it all began; The Cambrian College Gym and Student Centre will be transformed into a gamers paradise. -The Gym will include 90 tables of merchandise featuring: Retro to Modern Video Games -Comics -Anime -Art -Authors and much more Also, Studio 613 Electric Tattoo Co. and The Personal Computer Museum proudly presents a mobile museum including a special “Made in Canada” exhibit from Canada's Largest Video Game Collector, The One and Only; Syd Bolton. Here you can discover games and consoles that were made in Canada throughout the years. Test yourself in a quiz about Canadian gaming where the winner will win a very cool prize. Try your hand at games through the ages from Pong To Xbox. Feel the Nostalgia only at the Northern Game Expo. Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer will be doing a 50/50 draw so make sure you get your ticket for your chance to win BIG. Just around the corner from the Gym, we will have the following taking place in the Cambrian College Student Centre -Mika Koskela and his team will have a special Northern Game Expo themed food menu. -Comics North and Hidden Level Games Presents 2 video game tournaments. Mario Kart Deluxe 8 for the Nintendo Switch and Street Fighter 2 for the Super Nintendo. -An interactive Kids Zone that will include face painting by Chantal Gladu of Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as a Kids Colouring Contest where every child that participates will win a prize. (while supplies last) -Dance Dance Revolution.
