Tell us more about the Driverseat Concept:

Driverseat was the vision of brothers, Brian & Luke Bazely, who grew up in Sault Ste. Marie. The brothers, who now live in Waterloo Region, recognized a need for various transportation demands and preferences, and along with it, an opportunity to eliminate impaired driving. Driverseat equips people with an additional socially responsible option, whist ensuring that people get home safely with their own vehicle. The four available services offer:

– assisting people with their transportation needs in their own vehicle – whether it be designated driving, assisted transport, airport chauffeur, or vehicle chauffeur

– the convenience factor of being in the comfort of their own vehicle and having their vehicle at their home at the end of the ride

– easy booking through the mobile app and its valuable features: service type selection, price estimate, communication with the Coachman, notification of arrival, rating of Coachman, instant forwarding of receipt

– additional conveniences: car seats already in place, personal belongings can be left in vehicle on site and readily accessible

Why did you feel this was an important service to bring to Sudbury?

As local residents who raise a family here, we see the idea of providing Designated Driving an important step towards keeping our streets safer.

As it relates to designated driving: the majority of adults in North America enjoy drinking alcohol. Impaired driving remains a significant problem, to which Sudbury is not immune. Sudburians want options, and Driverseat offers a socially responsible option that is very appealing.

As it relates to Assisted Transport: Sudbury also has an aging community of seniors that still own vehicles and wish to maintain a certain level of independence, but may for many reasons, prefer assistance with driving and errands/appointments from time to time without wanting to put additional pressures on their families.

As it relates to Airport Chauffeur: Driverseat offers an affordable option for getting people to and from the airport in the comfort of their own vehicle, especially when car seats and luggage space are factors. This is ideal for people who prefer not to leave their vehicles in the airport parking lot.

How can we use Driverseat?, how does your service compare to a conventional cab?

You can use Driverseat for any of the services through our mobile app on Android and Apple devices. It is great for booking rides ahead of time, and generates a cost estimate right at the customer’s fingertips. Furthermore, the app offers people the option to select the type of service, see the vicinity of the Coachman (driver) in real time, communicate via text with their Coachman, and be notified when they arrive. The app also processes payments, allows customers to rate their Coachman and automatically forwards a receipt.

Unlike conventional cabs, we drive customers in their own vehicles. When designated driving is requested via the app, an available team – a Coachman (driver) and chaser – is dispatched to that customer’s location, where the Coachman will meet and drive the customer home in their vehicle while the chaser follows behind to pick up the Coachman at the end of the ride.

Customers will use on-call Designated Driving after having wine or beer with dinner, they will book a team of Coachmen (drivers) for weddings or corporate events, they can book to have their cars taken for oil changes, have us provide a Coachman for their aging parents who need assistance or have us drive them to the airport.  Any time someone needs their car moved, regardless if they are in the vehicle or not, they can simply contact us.
