PARTY ART TRÈS CHIC: AN EVENING AT THE MANSION

Join the Art Gallery of Sudbury April 25th for an evening like no other in the historic Bell Mansion! Party Art Très Chic! is a new event in celebration of art, fashion and culture with funds raised going back to the gallery in support of ongoing art education programs, further work with regional artists and to care for their permanent collection. On display for the evening will be stunning floral displays inspired by pieces from AGS’ permanent collection, fashion showcase of local Sudbury styles, an art auction of regional works, and music by DJ Groovy Betty. Get moving and grooving and make your way to AGS for Party Art Très Chic!, on April 25, 2019, from 7 to 11 pm. Tickets are now available for sale online through the Gallery’s website www.artsudbury.org.

Party Art Très Chic! will be an incredible night to celebrate art, fashion, and culture,” says Janik Guy, one of the voluntary Co-Chairs for the new event. “It will be a wonderful showcase of Sudbury-area floral designers, fashioner designers and retailers, and visual artists.” Janik isn’t the only one behind this amazing night of fun, a dedicated team of volunteers have formed a special event committee to make the magic happen! Volunteers include Lise Labine, Laurie Bissonette, Sonia del Missier, Paula Gouveia, Amanda Kingsley Malo, and Ann Suzuki.

As a charitable organization, the Art Gallery of Sudbury delivers art education programs both at the gallery and through partnerships in the community, such as Sudbury Action Center for Youth, St. Albert Adult Learning Center, Cecil Facer Youth Centre, and the Alzheimer Society. Funds raised over the evening will go towards these programs allowing them to grow and reach more Sudburians, allow AGS to continue to work with regional artists and necessary care of their permanent collection. Tickets are on sale now for $65, $55 for Art Gallery of Sudbury members. Tickets can be purchased at artsudbury.org, or bought in person at the Gallery located at 251 John Street, 10 am to 5 pm.

Need to freshen up your home with some new art or expand your collection? The gala evening art party features an artist-friendly auction of fine art donated by regional visual artists including Jon Butler, Dennis Castellan, Elizabeth Holmes, Sue Lampinen, Ron Langin, Gillian Schultze, Heather Topp, and Johanna Westby. Adding to the atmosphere will be DJ Groovy Betty spinning all of your favourite tracks! If you’re feeling a little peckish The Motley Kitchen will be serving up a tasty selection of eats and signature cocktails by Corby Spirit and Wine will be flowing.

Art

Spring is here and with it, the flowers are now in bloom! Local floral designers will be creating stunning floral arrangements inspired by artwork from the Permanent Collection include Mimi Landry (Bella Flora), Cathy Parker (Fleurs Magique), Jennifer Keast (Regency Wine and Flowers), Terry Vendetti (Terry Vendetti Interiors), among others. There will be a tasty surprise served up from Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop + Bar. The wonderful folks from Sew Local Stitch Lounge have created a thoughtful art installation that will be on display for the evening. Their piece explores body positivity and the impact that media and society have on what we choose to wear and not to wear. The artists have reached out to the Sudbury community through Facebook for input.

There are lots of surprises in store at the gallery not to mention memories to be made! Want to know what the future has in store for you? Samantha Seer from Sibyl Craft will be on hand offering Tarot readings to those curious enough. No trip to the gallery would be complete without getting your hands dirty! AGS staff will be facilitating art-making activities in the Gallery Studio so you can unleash your inner artiste!

Taking us on a trip through time and fashion local Sudbury artists, designers, and retailers have put together an impressive fashion showcase. Fashion contributors include Eddie Mira, Fancy to a Tee, Reg Wilkinson, Studio 35, Starlotte Satine Vintage, and Ann Suzuki. The show will include a variety of styles, celebrating fashion in many forms. See some Subdury style in action!
