CRATER CONVERSATIONS EP16: TONY ANSELMO

Welcome to another edition of Crater Conversations, a weekly show live on CKLU now on at a brand spanking new time Tuesday’s at 5PM! So, what exactly is the show all about? Join your host, Crater co-founder Jess, each week as we sit down with a local guest. We’ll talk about their projects, their passions, and the things they love about our little rock town! We’ll be sitting down with performers, entrepreneurs, community leaders – anyone with a story. Personal anecdotes, first inspirations, childhood follies, who knows where this will take us but we can’t wait to find out! Can’t catch the show on air? No worries, all our episodes will be posted online afterwards for easy listening. If you’re inclined to tune in live turn your radio dial to CKLU 96.7 or stream live at https://www.cklu.ca/. 5PM every Tuesday.

This weeks guest hardly requires an introduction. He’s been a ‘psychiatrist’, a downtown advocate, he’s an immigrant with hometown pride, he was the man (and moustache) behind Records on Wheels for 39 years, and to a select few little girls – he’s simply known as Nono. Tony Anselmo has made his mark on our city with his iconic downtown storefront that got everyone lost in the stacks for decades. Now that RoW has shut its doors he’s been keeping busy enjoying time with his family and hard at work bringing incredible acts to Sudbury. For the past four years Tony has been hosting an annual benefit in honour of his late wife, Debbi. All proceeds from Blues for Debbi go straight to the Northern Cancer Foundation to help provide better care to patients right in our area. This years performer is Duke Robillard, a guitarist with an impressive pedigree including touring with Bob Dylan in 2013. It was an absolute treat to sit down with Tony so listen in as we discuss everything from the future of vinyl, the changes to our Downtown and of course – Frank Zappa!
