19th Annual WISE Science Olympics

April 21, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

DESCRIPTION
Are you a girl in Grades 4-7 with a budding love of Science and Engineering? Then join us for the 19th Annual WISE Science and Engineering Olympics. The Olympics are a fun, FREE, full day event for 120 girls in Grades 4 to 7 from Sudbury and surrounding areas. Working in small teams of approximately 5-6 members, students will participate in four separate hands-on experiments from various science and engineering disciplines. Each experiment has its own scoring criteria, based on teamwork, member participation, planning, documentation, ingenuity, creativity, etc. The objective is to present science and engineering to these students in an interesting, fun, stimulating and positive way. At the end of the event, all participants will receive a certificate of participation and medals will be awarded to members of the winning teams.

The Olympics start at 9:00 am until 3:30 pm; thanks to our generous sponsors, the event is free and includes a pizza lunch and a snack for all participants. Students requiring a special meal should bring their lunch at drop-off with instructions.

This event is part of WISE Sudbury’s continuing efforts to promote and encourage females to consider and pursue careers in science and engineering. Volunteers consist of science and engineering professionals and students from the Sudbury Region
