Science Café – Extreme Sports: Risk or Reward?

March 27, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Extreme sports like free climbing and BASE jumping are gaining in popularity, but not everyone can understand the allure of high speed, high altitude, and high risk. Are extreme athletes adrenaline junkies, or are they motivated by a desire to push their own limits? Should extreme pursuits be limited to adults, or should kids and teens get to engage in these sports? What are the benefits of challenging yourself through extreme sport, and what are the dangers? Is the risk worth the reward?
