PLAYMINE DIGS UP NEW THEATRE WORKS

PLAYMINE DIGS UP NEW THEATRE WORKS

An exciting one of a kind theatre experience is about to take centre stage as Playmine launches its first season! This ingenious collaboration between Sudbury Theatre Centre and Pat the dog will see three working scripts presented in front of Sudbury audiences through out the 2018/2019 season. The first of such readings Manifestos by Jesse Brady is coming up Thursday November 8th @7PM on the Steve’s Encore stage. Admission is by donation and the reading will be followed by a Q&A with the playwright. Don’t miss your chance to get a seat and watch a brand new piece of theatre come to life!

Manifestos is an off-beat comedy about love lost and revolution. During the G20 summit in Toronto in 2010, Theo’s apartment is raided by his ex-girlfriend Kristen and her ragtag group of activists, turned bank-robbers. With riots raging and police hot on their trail, the cracks begin to show in the revolution, while Theo’s feelings for Kristen are rekindled. Manifestos is a satire for our modern age.

The opportunity to present a working script to an audience is invaluable to the process of creating a new piece of theatre. Pat the dog works heavily with Northern Ontario playwrights helping them develop their skills, navigate their next steps, work new pieces and network with other writers. Sudbury Theatre Centre has been a cornerstone in the community for over 45 years and aims always to provide extraordinary and engaging performances. A perfect duo to bring PlayMine to life! Manifestos will be read Thursday November 8th @7PM in Steve’s Encore at STC, written by local Jesse Brady with intimate conversation to follow. The remaining readings will take place January 25th and April 5th, 2019 with works by Cora Eckert and award-winning Chapleau playwright Mansel Robinson.
