Fashion Tip: Try mixing different fabrics and textures!

Mixing textures is one of my favourite fashion tricks. Whether it’s a chunky knit with a linen skirt, or a patterned button up with a felt blazer, adding texture to a look is one of my favourite ways to style an outfit. This doesn’t have to be done with just clothing either; adding a scarf, bold accessories, or even a colourful or eye-catching jacket can create this effect!

For this look, I tried two fabrics in solid colours, but why not go above and beyond by mixing patterns and prints!?

Here I tried pairing a wool-knit sweater with faux leather leggings. Two totally different fabrics that aren’t usually paired together, but somehow seem to work!

This particular sweater is one of those weirdly special pieces that can keep you warm in the winter, but is also thin enough to wear during the spring, and I picked it up at Joe Fresh.

Pleather will forever remind me of the hot (but fabulous) mess that was the 1980s, but faux leather pants and leggings (and skirts…and shorts) have made a comeback in the street style world.

I found this pair at Marshalls, but faux leather leggings are also available at stores like Topshop, Forever 21, and H&M.

This necklace is Eliasz and Ella, which is available at Stitch & Stone in Sudbury! This particular style of agate jewellery comes in all sorts of different colours, shapes, and sizes.

Ballerina flats have taken on a whole new meaning with these trendy lace-up shoes. This style is currently available at most shoe stores, but I’m not gonna lie, I snapped these up at Payless during their latest BOGO sale!
