5 events you need to check out in Sudbury this weekend

It’s Friday and just like last week, you can check out some amazing live music, catch the last few Cinefest films and events or spend your afternoon at the Greater Sudbury Market enjoying the Harvest Festival.

Through Black Spruce – Cinefest Friday Night Gala

Catch Through Black Spruce at Cinefest this Friday at 7pm followed by a reception at the McEwen School of Architecture. Through Black Spruce is a story of identity and survival set against what is perhaps Canada’s most glaring open wound: decades of unresolved murders and disappearances of indigenous women and girls. Healthy Kids Harvest Festival at the Market

Celebrate the Autumn Equinox at the Market at their Harvest Festival this Saturday from 10am-2pm. There will be a Giant Sunflower Competition, a pig roast, corn on the cob, skate exchange and sharpening and live music from Jubilation. You can get to the market for free on the city bus – just tell your driver you are attending the Healthy Kids Day at the market.

The Almighty Rhombus / Oh Geronimo / Oli Palkovits + More

This extremely diverse lineup of music will be hitting the stage at The Asylum this Saturday at 9pm. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door.

Sharkwater: Extinction – Cinefest Saturday Night Gala

This Saturday at 7pm followed by a reception at the Taphouse Northern Grill + Pub. Sharkwater: Extinction is a thrilling and inspiring action packed journey that follows filmmaker Rob Stewart as he exposes the massive illegal shark fin industry and the political corruption behind it—a conspiracy that is leading to the extinction of sharks. Tony Lee R-Rated Celebrity Super Show

R-Rated Hypnotist Tony Lee will be at the Fraser Auditorium this Sunday night at 7:30pm. He will be joined by Sam Losco (The Caveman) from The Trailer Park Boys, Spencer Rice from Kenny Vs. Spenny and comic book illustrator Tony Gray.
