A Day in the Life at Old Rock Roastery
A rustle of the keys as we open up the doors to heaven – at least that’s how it feels for individuals who are purely run by coffee. Old Rock Roastery has been opened on Minto St. for just over ten years now and I can remember being called down to the dinner table to discuss the journey of Old Rock via slideshow presentation as if it were yesterday. Oh hi there – I am Isabelle, daughter of the owners Luc and Carole Roy.
A typical day in the life as the Master Roaster, Carole, involves starting up the roaster every day of the week between the hours of 8am to 2pm and roasting just over 100 pounds of green beans daily. This locally roasted fairtrade, organic and rainforest alliance coffee welcomes (or lures) the people wandering the downtown core with a chocolaty aroma of roasted delight! With over 90 different origins and blends we are sure to have something that fits your taste buds! We also have a variety of organic teas and tasty treats that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
Coffee isn’t the only thing we pride ourselves on. Relationships with customers have grown outstandingly – we’ve built a cliental that goes beyond just serving coffee. We understand the certain deathly hollows that buries inside an individual at the break of dawn when they are in dire need of caffeine. So do yourself a favour and come check us out!

Isabelle Roy is an HK student at Laurentian University, fueled by coffee and sarcasm with an absurd love for Ben Howard. If she isn’t found belting out karaoke, you can assume she is drinking good wine with her dog. The only thing she loves more than chili cheese fries from Tucos is Miles Teller.
