Fierté Sudbury Pride is this week!

Fierté Sudbury Pride is the core LGTBQ2SA+ group for the city of Greater Sudbury. Each year they work with many local businesses and organization to put together Fierté Sudbury Pride week. From Monday July 8 until Sunday, July 14th you can find tons of amazing pride events throughout our city!

Monday, July 8th

Flag Raising Ceremony @ Tom Davies Square 11am-12pm

Kick-off Pride Week with the annual priflag-raising ceremony at Tom Davies Square! This year’s theme is “Rooting for our Futures” and there will be speakers of representations sharing their experiences.

Queering Body Image Workshop @ Greater Sudbury Public Library (Main Branch) 2-4pm

Presented by All Bodies Are Good Bodies, this workshop will explore how body image affects people in the LGBTQ2SIA community and how we can help change the culture to be more accepting of all bodies.

Match d’impro Fierté @ Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario 6-8pm

Des équipes de comédiens, autant queers qu’alliéEs, s’affronteront sur scène dans une série d’improvisations ludiques et proprement queer. Qui remportera le match? À vous de voir! Les portes ouvrent à 18 h et le match débute à 18 h 30. L’évènement est gratuit, mais une collecte de dons aura lieu au profit de l’Alliance LGBT de École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier.

Teams of actors, as well as queers and allies, will compete on stage in a series of playful improvisations and properly queer. Who will win the match? Up to you! Doors open at 6 pm and the game starts at 6:30 pm The event is free, but a fundraiser will be held to benefit the LGBT Alliance at Macdonald-Cartier High School.

Paris is Burning @ Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-Op 8-10pm

Sudbury Indie Cinema will be screening the documentary Paris is Burning. This landmark documentary provides a vibrant snapshot of the 1980s through the eyes of New York City’s African American and Latinx Harlem drag ball scene. Made over seven years, Paris Is Burning offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion “houses,” from fierce contests for trophies, to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia and transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty.

Nickel Pride Lightshow @ Dynamic Earth

All week after sunset you will be able to see the Big Nickel lit up in all 6 pride colours. Presented by Dynamic Earth & FSP.


Tuesday, July 9

Dynamic Earth Pride Day

Dynamic Earth is offering 2 for 1 admission pricing (2 for 1) all day long. Use the the password “Rainbow Obsidian”  with the front desk staff when purchasing admission tickets.

Tickets: $18 to $22 for two admissions

Data and Dabbers Speakers Event @ La Fromagerie 7-9pm

A night of icebreaker bingo, learning, and CHEESE! The night will start with a “Ford’s Sorry About Your Luck Bingo”. Sudbury MPP Jamie West will be the bingo-caller. Next, Suzanne Mills, Associate Professor, at McMaster University will report results from her research about the experiences of LGBTQ+ workers that many people from Sudbury participated in last summer. Topics covered include: How does being LGBTQ+ affect the type of job you choose and your ability to find work? What is it about some workplaces that makes LGBTQ+ people feel safe to be out or about others that make people feel unsafe?

Gay Trivia Night @ La Fromagerie 9-11:30pm

Tuesday is trivia night at La Fromagerie and this Tuesday you can join them for a gay-themed trivia night!

Family Karaoke Night @ Zig’s 7-11pm

Head over to Zig’s Tuesday night for a family karaoke night! All people of all ages are welcome. Alcohol will NOT be served but there will be mocktails and snacks available.


Wednesday, July 10

Charity BBQ For Youth @ YMCA 11am-3pm

Support our LGBTQ+ youth at the YMC Charity BBQ for youth. There will be an open mic session, drag makeup demonstration and a special performance by Drag Queen Athena McQueen.

All Gender Clothing Swap @ Sudbury Women’s Centre 6-8pm

The Sudbury Women’s Centre is hosting a clothing swap and BBQ in their parking lot. Go find some new clothes to help express your style! You can bring items to swap or just go shop. The BBQ is free but donations are welcome.

PAINT S- CAPES Sudbury Pride Paint Party @ La Fromagerie 6-8:30pm

Capture the essence of pride with a beautiful 16″ x 20″ dream-catcher featuring brushed-on rainbow feathers and eye-catching bling! This is a licensed event and there will be 1/2 apps and menu specials.

Tears for Queers: A Night of Music @ The Townehouse Tavern 7-10pm

Fierté Sudbury Pride presents a night of sad songs and big queer feels. Grab a drink and lend your ears to three wonderful Canadian acts. Live music by Greyson Gritt (Yellowknife, NWT), Inland Island (Montreal, QC) and local Shawn Kosmo. The event will be Pay What You Can, with all proceeds going towards the out of town artists.

Free Yang/Yin Yoga Class @ Two Souls Yoga 8:30-9:30pm

Join Two Souls Yoga for a 1 hour Yang/Yin Yoga class in support of Fierté Sudbury Pride. Bring your mat, and a monetary donation! *Donations will be accepted for Fierté Sudbury Pride*

Zig’s Pride Idol @ Zig’s 10pm

You will have one chance to sing your best and win cash for your talents. Only 3 contestants will perform in the final round where you could win the crown of PRIDE IDOL and $300 cash.




Thursday, July 11

Sign Making Workshop @ Greater Sudbury Public Library (Main Branch) 2:30-4:30pm

Presented by Myths & Mirrors Community Arts. Head over to the Greater Sudbury Public Library and make signs for the Pride Parade. This workshops is free of charge and materials will be provided but bring your own bling for that personal touch.

Gay/Bi/Trans & Mens Health Clinic @ Réseau ACCESS Network 5:30-8pm

Presented by Réseau ACCESS Network. The clinic offers sexual health information and planning, testing, treatment, physical exams, one-on-one support, free vaccinations, access to PrEP, other medical services and free supplies-condoms, lube, dams etc.

Big Gay Cabaret @ Sudbury Theatre Centre 7-11pm

Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Big Gay Cabaret! Hosted by “It Gurl” Brenda form Accounting and featuring some of Sudbury’s most daring and outrageous performers!

Zig’s Dirty Drag Queen Bingo @ Zig’s 9pm

This isn’t your average bingo – it’s a classic game with a naughty twist…If you have a fun and kinky side, this game is definitely for you! Dirty innuendo and sexy prizes! Bingo Cards and dabbers for sale at the bar.

Pride Community Breakfast and Presentation @ Clarion Hotel Sudbury 7:30-10:30am

Presented by Réseau ACCESS Network. Join them for a freshly prepared community breakfast with Rahim Thawer who will be speaking to Supporting Dialogue When Someone Comes Out & Dr. Sean Sullivan who will be discussing how PrEP/PEP and the U=U (Undetectable=Untransmittable) campaigns are exciting advances in HIV prevention and sexual health. 

Tickets: $25 each or a table of 8 for $160.

Sew with Pride @ Sew Local Stitch Lounge 5:30-8pm

Celebrate Pride Week and make your own Pride Bunting! Sew Local Stitch Lounge will have a selection of solid color fabrics so you can make any Pride flag, bunting style! Get creative with awesome company, queer music and snacks in our warm inviting space. Sew Local Stitch Lounge is a queer owned and operated business and a safe space. LGBTQ+ and allies welcome!

Cost: $30 + tax (All proceeds will be donated to FSP)

Get Luck Pride Showcase @ Zen Fitness 6-9pm

Together with DJ Soundjack, Zen Fitness will set up an underground after-hours cabaret-style production venue that will blow you away. Anyone who saw Get Lucky 2018 celebration can attest that Zen Fitness successfully transforms into Zen LITness. Featuring pole, HipHop, heels, chair, burlesque and drag performances from Zen staff, students and guest artists.

Hear the Rainbow 2.0 @ One Sky 6:30-8:30pm

Join One Sky for their Second Annual Hear the Rainbow event. Witness the magic of improvised painting and music, to the colours of the rainbow.
This event features visual artist Darius Ghorbani and musician Kelton Cross. This is a free event – pass the hat for artist and musician.

Pride Prom @ Sudbury Theatre Centre 7-11pm

Fierté Sudbury Pride presents a Prom night to remember for youth (AGES 18 AND UNDER) for all queer, trans and allied youth in a welcoming, fun and safe atmosphere. Hosted by Toronto-based Drag Queen, Heaven Lee Hytes, there will be music for you to dance your heart out to, a snack table so you won’t go hungry, and LGBTQ+ chaperons to make sure everyone is safe and sound! Zig’s Variety & Drag Show @ Zig’s 9pm

Featuring LADY ANYA FACE and Carlotta Carlisle! Sudbury’s famous Celebrity Female Impersonator in all her glory with local kings, queens and in-betweens will give you a night of incredible fun! ZIGS is Sudbury’s Pride Party Headquarters for the 19+ crowd!

Saturday, July 13

Pride Day in the Park @ Memorial Park 11am-4pm

Presented by FSP and Mine Mill Local 598/Unifor. There’s no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than in Memorial Park, eating hotdogs and burgers, sipping on cold drinks, listening to rad LGBTQ+ musicians, and checking out all the wonderful swag from amazing vendors! Get revved up for the March, make a sign or two, and make new friends! Hosted by the amazing, Toronto-based Drag Queen, Heaven Lee Hytes!

Drag Storytime @ Memorial Park 11am-1pm

Presented by Fox Haven, Dixie, a flamboyant and glittery drag queen, will be reading stories to children of all ages at Sudbury Pride! Come and laugh as she reads stories such as “Prince and Knight”, “We Do Not Eat Our Classmates”, “Red – A Crayon’s Story” and many more.

Pride March 2019 @ Memorial Park 1-2pm

Come celebrate your pride by joining in the annual Pride March, starting at Memorial Park AT 1:00 PM* and will route throughout downtown Sudbury. Wear your brightest colours, bring your best signs, cheer your loudest cheers, and get ready to show your pride!

NCRD Celebrating Pride – Live Roller Derby @ Carmichael Arena 6:30-9:30pm

Nickel City Roller Derby loves pride! The roller derby community in Sudbury will always be a safe space for all people regardless and in celebration of their sexual identity or gender expression. Watch Sister Slag take on the Motor City Madames in a pride-themed game!

Tickets: $10 / free for children 9 and under

2019 Pride Celebration @ Zig’s 9pm

Presented by XOXO Lifestyle and Zigs. The Future is Love will showcase performances from 9-11pm and then the dance party starts at 11pm.

Tickets: $5 before 11pm / 10$ after 11pm or with Friday night ticket ($10 after)


Sunday, July 14

Spirit of Pride Workshop @ Grace United Church 10:30am

Sunday worship open to everyone under (and in) the rainbow. Parking for Grace United Church is off Barry Street.

Rewind 103.9’s Drag Brunch FT: Lady Anya Face @ Milestones 11:30am-2pm

Get ready for some delicious food, hilarious comedy and of course, a fabulous Drag Queen! Wrap up Pride Week in style with Canada’s favourite LIVE singing Drag Queen, Lady Anya Face. This event is free with the purchase of food.

Pool Party @ YMCA Sudbury 3-5pm

Presented by TG Innerselves and Sudbury YMCA. Bring your beach balls and pool noodles because you’re about to have a splashing good time for 2SLGBTQAI! Guestbook sign-in required at the front desk prior to entry.

Climb the Rainbow @ ARC Climbing + Yoga 6-9pm

ARC Climbing + Yoga is teaming up with Fierte Sudbury Pride for an evening of climbing, community and celebration! Special event pricing includes all your rental gear and free belays up the wall. Climbs will be set up to ensure they are accessible for any and all climbing experience levels. Door/raffle prizes throughout the evening and a special rainbow-themed climb with prizes for whoever makes it the furthest!

Cost: $15 (includes rentals + tax) / Free for ARC Members
