International Women's Day: Five Events to check out

How are you celebrating International Women’s Day? Sudbury is home to A LOT of really inspirational woman and Our Crater has been lucky enough to meet and work with many of them. We could easily list over 100 inspiring ladies in our community (and trust us, we’ll get to that soon!) but today we wanted to share five events we’re excited are happening in our city for International Women’s Day!

International Women’s Day Brunch @ Ristorante Verdicchio

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual International Women’s Day Brunch at Ristorante Verdicchio with guest speaker Jessica Holmes, Celebrated Comedian, Author, Mental Health Advocate. This event is sold out so you may want to mark it in your calendar for next year to make sure you get a ticket in time! NOTE: Ristorante Verdicchio wants you to recognize the women in your life at Verdicchio and they will offer a complimentary creme brûlée and glass of prosecco with the purchase of a main dish! 

Women in Art – Book Launch and Exhibit @ The Open Studio

Johanna Westby and Chantal Abdel-Nour have created a book showcasing Sudbury Women in Art. The purpose of this book is to raise awareness to talented and innovative women who create visual art in Sudbury. The book launches today and you can check out an exhibit of the artists’ work at the Open Studio downtown 7-9pm. Books will be available for purchase at the event for $25. Sales are cash only.

 

She&Her – Women in Leadership Symposium @ The Durham Social

She&Her is hosting their first event tonight at the Durham Social and we are really excited to say that their event has sold out! The evening will consist of thought-provoking, inspiring and empowering conversation with a few of Sudbury’s leading females. If you were lucky enough to get tickets, you’re in for a great night featuring keynote speaker Alicia Woods as well as panelists Chrisanne Daniel, Amanda Kingsley Malo, Ashley Larose and Meghan Juuti.



 

Break the Glass Ceiling @ ARC

YWCA Sudbury and ARC are hosting a night of climbing for woman tonight from 6-10pm. This is open to all fitness levels and costs only $25.

Artisan Pop-Up @ Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop & Bar

Opened for only a few weeks, Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop & Bar has taken over our Instagram newsfeed with the most mouth-watering photos of delicious desserts. Owner Justine Martin has partnered with a few other local leaders to host a kick-ass pop-up shop today. Head over there today to check out Wolf & Pine, Aly Becker, Startlotte Satine Vintage and Olive & Annie.
