For some of us, the holidays are just days away and we have no idea what to get the folks on our list. It can be especially difficult when shopping for “the person who has everything”.

With holidays just around the corner, consider a music purchase! With local artists whose music range in genre from Rock ’n’ Roll to Psychedelic-Folk, there’s bound to be an artist that strikes the auditory fancy of your loved ones. If being part of the action is more their style get them a ticket an upcoming show or take advantage of early-bird festival pricing. To make your life just a little bit easier here are some great options to give the gift of music this holiday!

There is a plethora of Sudbury-based artists who have albums, vinyl, and merchandise for sale. Though brick-and-mortar music shops have been closing left-right-and center, luckily locally-owned businesses have stepped up to carry their releases.

FESTIVAL PASSES

What to get for the person who has everything? How about passes to something that hasn’t happened yet? Nowadays festival passes are as easy as a click of the mouse.

Northern Lights Festival Boreal – July 4-7, 2019

The 2018 festival was one of the biggest ever with Canadian headliners Arkells, Alvvays, Lisa LeBlanc and Bill & Joel Plaskett! Plans for 2019 are underway to make it another record year. Earlybird passes for NLFB 2019 are on-sale for $75 (reg. $110) available online at nlfb.ca and at A&J Home Hardware, Old Rock, Jett Landry. There is also a clearance sale on merchandise at nlfb.ca/merch

Bloom – March 8-9, 2019

Sudbury’s brand-new, multi-venue festival, dedicated to presenting a diversity of music with roots all around the world. There are a limited amount of #Bloom2019 earlybird festival passes on sale at nlfb.ca only.

River & Sky Music and Camping Festival – July 17-21, 2019

River & Sky is a 4-day music festival that combines amazing music with a real camping experience at Fisher’s Paradise in Field. Weekend Passes ($145-210) and Memberships ($30) are available for online purchase at riverandsky.ca

Up Here Festival

While passes for the 2019 festival are not yet available, in the meantime, score your loved ones some festival swag at Good Luck General. T-shirts, sweaters, and pins are available.

TAKE IN A SHOW

Another terrific option is tickets to a live show. Consider buying two tickets so that your gift recipient can take a guest, or, better yet, accompany your gift recipient to the show as well. Time spent is often the best gift.

Sudbury Theatre Centre (STC)

The STC has tickets available online for their 2019 season. Giftcards are also available.

Affordably Numb Celebrates Pink Floyd (Jan. 18, $30), Voices of the Rock with Kevin Closs (Feb. 2, $20) are two local acts to hit the STC stage.

Théâtre du Nouvel Ontario (TNO)

Now at the TNO, Anglophone and Francophile friends have the opportunity to see great, contemporary theatre in French without having to worry about the language barrier. The Surtitles Package (translated dialogue projected onto a screen above the stage) offers a rebate on tickets for the last two shows in their Adult Series.
